Baby Watch Weekend

We had a crazy weekend up in New York! My sister-in-law was over-due in having her baby, but she finally had Baby Sophia this morning! These are the pictures from this weekend! Happy Halloween!

Another Jaden Video

I just did a video using Photobucket, and I quite like their program. Super easy to use and I think I like it the best so far out of all the other video compiling programs I've fooled around with. As usual it's very amateurish, so bear with me. There's music so hopefully you're speakers are turned down. :)

Couple With DS Gets Married

So much to talk about today. First up, a couple in Tennessee is getting married, and they just so happen to both have Down Syndrome. Read all about it here. This is not that surprising considering what our kids can do now, yet it is still great to see. What continues to surprise me is that every time I read an article about a person with DS accomplishing something "normal" the article always has to include the stereotypical, regurgitated so called facts about DS. Why can't we just read an article that states the accomplishments of the individual without pre-empting it with outdated statistics, or stories of institutions, etc. Yes, I understand we have come a long way, but when are Journalists going to stop perpetuating stereotypes in their story telling?

Next up for sharing, we went to Jaden's School's Open House last night. It was so cute that I could barely control myself. The teachers had put together a beautiful video of all the children doing different activities throughout the day. They would stop the video to talk about what the kids were doing coming up in the next scene. It was incredibly special. The funny part was, Jaden was in every single frame. There was no part of the video that didn't didn't show Jaden doing something. I know they favor him a bit, but it really became abundantly clear in the video how much "On Air" time Jaden got! We just love his teacher's, all 6 of them! The amazing part is, there are only 12 kids in his class! There is nothing that Jaden isn't doing that the other kids are doing. His teachers keep stressing to us that he is just like every other child in the class and is doing everything! We're so proud of our little guy. The Big scrape on Jaden's nose happened the day before picture day! So his school pictures should be cute this year!

Next Up, please read this article about how HALF of ALL Lipsticks have lead in them! This isn't surprising to me, because I have been reading about this for years, but many women have no idea that this occurs. They just assume that the beauty industry is looking out for our safety. On the Contrary! It doesn't matter how expensive your lipstick, eyeshadow, or foundation is! Unless it's 100% Natural and organic, it will have chemicals in it! The Beauty industry is a SELF-REGULATED Industry! This means they can put whatever they want in their products! Women are absorbing more than 200 chemicals a day through the skin. This includes SPF products that you are lead to believe are protecting you from skin cancer, this is also completely false marketing. The only thing you should put on your skin for sun protection is an all natural zinc oxide product, which will give you all the protection you need. The best place to look up the safety of your products in on the EWG.Org website, here the direct link to look up your products.

Thank You!

Wow! Something happened with the Petition in the last few days! 30 Signatures in 1 day, which is a significant difference from the halted count it was at for several weeks! Thank you! I just want everyone to remember that The Prenatally Diagnosed Condition Act is going to change so much for all of the expecting parents out there, frightened, alone, isolated and still receiving negative, outdated, inaccurate information regarding the prenatal diagnosis they are receiving. This BILL will help change everything for all of these parents so that they don't have to keep facing Doctors who don't offer support and positive information! Think about all of the new parents having to face information that is scaring them into terminating. Please take a few minutes to read all about this Bill and what it means. This Petition is going to be VERY effective and influential in getting across to all of our politicians just how important this is for all of us. If you have time, go to to the petition and read all of the comments. These comments are very emotional and powerful firsthand testimonials explaining just how failing the prenatal community is at offering support for expecting parents who receive a diagnosis.

Big Blogging Loser

Hi everyone, if in fact there is anyone even reading this blog anymore. I have so many new things I am still planning on adding to this blog that I haven't had a chance to do ever since I lost the last template. Like the story of how we learned about Jaden having DS and more links to websites that I find incredibly helpful. I have been so entrenched in getting my new business going, HealthiestLife4You.com and have been barely able to do much else.

My new website is completely devoted to bringing researched, reviewed and recommended products to people who might not have a chance to find these products where they live. For FREE. Nothing is for sale. The reason I am doing this is to get environmentally proactive companies the exposure they deserve, and to bring them to an audience that they wouldn't normally reach. The Companies are willing to give products away for free, in order to introduce you to them! I have so many companies getting involved and many more products to introduce in the next week or so.
Jaden is doing wonderfully at school and is doing everything his "typical" friends are doing. The teacher's are just so proud of him and tell us every day how there is no difference between Jaden and the other kids. We really hit the jackpot with this school, we are so grateful. He's also doing great with the potty training and will no longer "pee" sitting down! He only wants to stand up, it's very funny. As for a petition update, we are up to 758 signatures, but have sort of stalled. Look, I'll take it! 758, is better than 757 or none! The Petition will be turned in within the next few weeks to all of our Senators, the NDSS and the NDSC. If you know anyone that may want to sign it still, please pass it on! I know we are all so busy and often overwhelmed, and it's easy to forget about certain issues. I just want you to know, I haven't forgotten about the Prenatally Diagnosed Condition Act!

Getting The Hang Of Potty Training

Well we are completely ecstatic to announce some big news with Jaden. He's been adapting fabulously at his new school, and he absolutely loves it! His Teachers are AMAZING and so loving! There are never less than 4 teachers for all 12 children. It's such a beautiful environment for him. The teachers can tell us everything he does from the minute he arrives until the minute we pick him up. They give us every detail of his day and are always so proud of him. Usually they have pictures of video of him with the other kids throughout the day. They are constantly emphasizing how he is just like all the other kids and is fitting in beautifully. He follows along with all of the activities and plays very well with the other children. The most exciting thing to report is on his potty training. His teachers can not believe that after only 2 weeks he is going to pee pee on the potty! They bring the kids to the potty throughout the day and said that Jaden is now peeing almost every time they bring him. So, we had to step up our game at home and start being consistent. Jaden has been going on the potty at home for over 6 months, it's just we haven't been consistent. He knows exactly what he's doing when we say "poo poo" or "pee pee", and he even says the words now.
The teachers told us to get on it with him at home, so we have. And wouldn't you know, it's working! We take him 5 minutes after he eats and ask him if he has to go "pee, pee", he says "yes" so we take him to the potty and he waits until his pants are down, then goes on the potty! Then we ask him if he has to go "poo poo", and he'll say "yes" or "no" or "all done". If he says "yes", he then will go poo poo on the potty! The "poo" thing is pretty easy too because he is pretty "regular" with his schedule, morning and night. This is sooo exciting! The thing that I'm most proud of is that he knows how to hold it, and he knows exactly what he's doing. Also, he likes being in control of going to the bathroom because he's really tired of his diapers. We bought him "pull ups" but won't start with those for a few more weeks. We could kick ourselves for not being this consistent many months ago, because honestly, he's been ready for this for at least 6 to 8 months! I honestly didn't know that you were supposed to take them 5 minutes after every meal and after they wake up and before they go to bed. Lyla never potty trained like this, she just "got it" over night, so to speak. We have the potty seat that goes on the toilet and the portable potty to catch him quicker. Most importantly, he's excited!

Come On Over & Get FREE Products

Hey everybody, if you're still out there that is! I've been a bad "blogger" due to the fact that I've been on the computer upwards of 10 hours a day building my new website! Thank goodness my gorgeous husband helps me as much as he does! This is truly the most exciting thing I've done in quite a while! I'm finally officially ready to launch
Your Healthiest Life!

I have been getting everything together for over 3 weeks now, and it's taken up all of my time.
I have 7 TOTALLY FREE, All Natural, Environmentally Friendly, Organic products to give you this week! I plan on having at least this many different products to give away each week. I really want to spread awareness to everyone on just how easy it is to switch from "toxic" products to "healthy" products. Many people, because of where they live, don't have access to so many healthy products, Your Healthiest Life, is a place where everyone can read and win products from amazing companies that want you to try them!

This week, I have an amazing product many of you might be interested in. It's called Nutrivene D, the multi vitamin supplement I have been giving Jaden since he was 3 months old. This company is on the forefront of nutritional supplementation and is always ahead of the curve as far as research goes. They actually formed a research team called The Trisomy 21 Research Foundation which continues to research, evaluate and test formulations specifically for our children with Down Syndrome! Studies keep showing that children/babies who are given supplements actually grow taller, have less hearing and vision problems and tend to be healthier overall, than those not given supplements. Jaden is a perfect example of this. He is average height and weight for a 2-1/2 year old, his vision is perfect, he's very healthy, has no digestive problems, etc. I really attribute this to the supplements. I strongly advocate Nutritional Intervention, especially when you educate yourself as to why and what to do. Nutrivene D is formulated by Doctor's and Pharmacists who have been studying the physiology and metabolisms of children with Down Syndrome for years. Our children have different metabolisms and different ways of absorbing nutrients. Anyway, you can read all about Nutritional Intervention, HERE. I have 12 bottles, (Full size), of different supplements to give away! I would definitely stop by and enter to win!

If you subscribe to the feed burner on the right of the home page, you will get updates on all of the products I am giving away. All you have to do is answer ALL of the questions completely in the entry form, and you can win! The more complete and informative the answers are, the better your chances of winning are. There is no limit to how many products you can win or how often! There is no catch and nothing to buy. This is just straight up marketing from companies that would love for you to try their products. These are all FULL Size Products also! No Samples!
Hope to see you all there!
